Brian Mason and Alberta’s NDP put the needs of regular Albertans first, with real solutions to make life more affordable for everyday people.
“It’s time Albertans saw the benefits of their resource wealth. Average families are being squeezed by high costs and declining public services. Alberta’s NDP is on their side.”
– Brian Mason
The Conservatives have offloaded the cost of public services onto the backs of regular people. Alberta’s NDP is on the side of ordinary Albertans, demanding an end to health care premiums, reasonable tuition for students, and safe, affordable care for seniors. We’re calling for rent controls and limits on condominium conversions, to keep housing affordable and available.
The Liberals’ and Conservatives’ royalty plans benefit big international oil companies, but they sell Albertans short by billions of dollars a year. Alberta’s NDP will follow the example set by Alaska and replace our bargain basement royalty system with a plan that benefits regular people, and delivers a full share for the resources they own.
Securing a prosperous future means looking beyond fossil fuels. Alberta’s NDP has an ambitious plan to make Alberta a global leader in green energy. We would use increased royalty revenue to develop solar, wind, and geothermal alternatives in Alberta and invest in green energy research and economic development for the future.
Political donations from big oil and other large corporations have a corrosive effect on democracy. Liberals and Conservatives, the primary recipients of those donations, put the needs of these donors ahead of the needs of ordinary families. Alberta’s NDP would put an end to political donations from unions and corporations.
“Brian (Mason), unlike Ralph, apparently does give a tinker's damn.”
– Edmonton Sun columnist Neil Waugh
“Unlike Ed Stelmach and Kevin Taft, who never manage to connect with voters, Brian Mason, leader of the Alberta New Democrats (NDP), appears to express exactly what the average Albertan feels.”
– Calgary political commentator Werner Patels
“Since being elected in 2000, Mason has shown himself to be one of the most effective MLAs on either side of the assembly.”
– Edmonton Journal columnist Graham Thomson
