About the position

Alberta’s New Democrats are seeking a motivated individual to assist in an administrative role.

The Organization

Alberta’s New Democrats are a growing, vibrant political party with a membership that holds specific values of social justice, the rights of working people, environmental stewardship and fairness. The organization’s Board of Directors and staff complement are professional, dedicated individuals focused on continuing to grow the party and re-electing an NDP government in Alberta.

General Description and Duties

Reporting to the Provincial Secretary and/or their designate, the successful applicant will be responsible for:

• Handled incoming and outgoing communications, including emails, phone calls, and written correspondence
• Distributing information to team members and other departments as needed
• Providing support to members & visitors, direct inquiries appropriately
• Ensuring a high level of customer service and professionalism
• Assisting with the maintenance of contact lists and databases
• Assisting in maintaining an organized and efficient office environment
• Assisting with special events as directed
• Collaborating with staff on special projects, as directed by the Provincial Secretary

Qualifications

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

• Administrative experience in an office environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
• Knowledge of the history and structure of the Alberta New Democrats
• Proven experience with data entry
• Experience with MS Office and data programs
• Familiarity with administrative duties
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively under deadlines and be self-motivated
• Willingness to work altered and irregular hours
• Proficiency in Razor’s Edge Databases is an asset

Terms and Conditions

This position reports to the Provincial Secretary and/or their designate, is a temporary, full-time position starting upon hiring (around February 05, 2024) and concluding June 30th, 2024. The position is governed by a Collective Agreement between Alberta’s New Democrats and COPE 397 and is classified as S2B, salary starting at $51,489.15 (pro-rated).
