A proud resident of Decore since 2008, Chris Nielsen studied Engineering Design at NAIT and has worked for Lucerne Foods Ltd. He has also served in the community as Secretary and Director of the Children’s Heart Society.
Prior to his time with the Legislative Assembly, Nielsen has been an active promoter of employees’ health, safety and workplace rights. He has served as a shop steward with 15 years and co-chair of the worksite health and safety committee. He also serves on the UFCW Local 401 provincial health and safety committee, political action committee, and as a relief Union Representative. Advocating for the rights and safety of hard working Albertans has been a major part of his life over the last 20 years.
Nielsen is passionate about improving labour laws to protect all Albertans from exploitation and bullying in the workplace. He also believes health and safety legislation needs to be improved to protect Albertans from unsafe work and work sites.
