First elected in 2015, David Shepherd has spent over a decade as an ever-present advocate for those living in the heart of Edmonton –a familiar sight on the streets of the communities he represents. He is a strong champion of downtown revitalization, the arts, innovation, housing, mental health, and safer communities. From 2019 – 2024, he served as Health Critic, fiercely defending public healthcare and frontline workers, and now serves as Shadow Minister for Public Safety and Emergency Services.
Well-known across African, Caribbean, and Black communities, David is a familiar face at local events, helped establish Alberta’s official recognition of Black History Month, and has worked to advance the Anti-Racism Act. A lifelong Edmontonian, he’s also a former musician, studio engineer, and communications professional, and leverages his life experience to engage Albertans in creative ways.
David Shepherd is ready. Alberta's New Democrats are ready.
