EDMONTON – “The NDP is the only party that can be counted on to fight for issues that are important to Alberta families, and our focus will remain on electing more New Democrat MLAs to the Legislature,” NDP  leader Brian Mason said today.

Mason’s comments come in response to a recent newspaper ad purchased by the Alberta Liberals. He called it an act of desperation by a party and leader who are floundering.

“The Liberal party is a train wreck,” Mason said. “Our party has a clear position on the matter of electoral cooperation. We’re not interested in playing footsy with a desperate Liberal party,” Mason said.

Alberta’s NDP will continue to honour its mandate which is to stop the privatization public health care, prevent cuts to education, protect children and families, and fight for better royalties.

“The NDP has proven very effective, whether it’s stopping the Third Way or ousting inept ministers in the children’s services and health ministries,” Mason said.

“We are the only party that can be counted on to fight for Alberta families, and we are confident Albertans are prepared to elect more New Democrats.”
