Notley releases statement on allegations against Associate Minister Bhardwaj
EDMONTON – Today in Question Period, New Democrat Leader Rachel Notley questioned the PC government on their plans to respond to serious allegations against PC MLA and cabinet minister Naresh Bhardwaj involving bribery.
“While unproven, the allegations against Associate Minister Bhardwaj are extremely serious and could amount to a breach of the criminal code. Today, I asked the Premier to take leadership by asking the member to step aside pending the outcome of the allegations and the completion of any potential investigations.
“As the actions alleged could amount to a breach of the criminal code, I also asked the Minister of Justice to commit to appointing a special prosecutor to ensure transparency in any investigation that might occur as a result of these allegations.”
