Shannon Phillips grew up in Edmonton and graduated from the University of Alberta with an Honours BA and Master of Arts in Political Science. After graduating, she committed herself to making working and middle-class families’ priorities government priorities, by working with Jack Layton and the federal NDP, as wells as the NDP caucus at the Alberta Legislature.
Phillips moved to Lethbridge in 2006 and worked as a journalist and consultant before taking a position with the Alberta Federation of Labour as an economic policy analyst. Her work focuses on how Alberta’s economy can better serve the interests of working and middle class families. Her specialty areas include oil sands and pipelines, labour markets, government finances, and health care.
Shannon is a mother to two pre-school boys and lives in the London Road area of Lethbridge.
