Mickey Amery, Alberta’s Minister of Justice, has close personal ties to individuals at the centre of the UCP’s CorruptCare scandal.

Despite leading the government response into serious allegations against the Minister of Health, the Premier and the UCP government, Amery failed to disclose this critical conflict of interest.

Amery admitted, months into this scandal, that he’s a long-time personal friend and relative of the man whose business contracts with the UCP are at the heart of the scandal.

Mickey Amery cannot be trusted to oversee government legal strategy or allocate taxpayer dollars in any investigation or lawsuit that could directly impact his own personal friend and family member.

Amery has since inserted himself into the referendum debate insisting the Chief Electoral Officer withdraw its court reference and rubber stamp a referendum question designed to take Alberta out of Canada.

This blatant act of political interference in the work of an independent officer of the legislature is unacceptable from someone in charge of the province’s justice system.

Amery's actions are not acceptable. Albertans deserve ethical, competent government.

Danielle Smith must fire Amery from Cabinet immediately.
