Travis Toews Hides the Truth from Albertans

Travis Toews is running to be Alberta's Premier. But his record as Finance Minister shows he can't be trusted.

Alberta Auditor General released the results of his investigation into $4 billion dollars in spending by the UCP attributed to managing the COVID-19 pandemic in fiscal year 2020-21. The Auditor General found that "annual reports did not give a clear picture” of the spending and the funds were not properly accounted for in writing. This is not the first time Travis Toews has shown a propensity to hide the truth from Albertans.

  • The UCP made a $7.5 billion dollar bet on Donald Trump winning the White House, and never released any details of their Keystone XL payout.
  • During the UCP War Room's first fiscal period, external contractors accounted for about $1.3 million of the organization’s $2 million of operating expenses. The majority of sole-source contracts examined by the Auditor General lacked sufficient documentation to provide justification for sole sourcing.
  • An audit confirms that the UCP cut AISH benefits to 70,000 disabled Albertans in order to fudge their books. By delaying payments to AISH Travis Toews forced disabled Albertans to pay NSF fees, miss their rent payments, not buy transit passes, face potential utility cutoffs and delay buying groceries.
