Irfan Sabir was first elected on May 5th, 2015 as the MLA for Calgary-McCall. He became Minister of Community and Social Services on January 19th, 2017.
Before being elected, he practiced in aboriginal law at a national law firm in Calgary. Prior to that, he worked as a research assistant with the Faculty of Law at the University of Calgary. Irfan also worked for the Salvation Army for five years and as a real estate agent before that.
Irfan holds a juris doctor degree and a degree in social work from the University of Calgary, as well as a degree in economics from the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan.
Irfan has proudly called Calgary home since 2004.
