Albertans have already said loud and clear we don’t want new coal mining on the eastern slopes of Alberta’s Rocky Mountains. The long term risks to our agriculture and tourism far outweigh any short term economic benefits.
But the UCP have opened up the eastern slopes to new coal development anyway. Danielle Smith has proven once again the UCP is not governing for Albertans. Instead, they are appeasing shadowy foreign companies meeting with them behind closed doors.
If coal mining goes ahead in the eastern slopes, our water, wildlife, and public lands will be forever impacted. It’s up to us to protect our precious mountain headwaters and everyone living downstream.
But we only have until spring before new coal exploration and development could begin.
Raise your voice today to protect our eastern slopes from new coal mining.
