About the position

We’re hiring a Fundraising Organizer to join the Alberta New Democrat fundraising team.

Location: Alberta (Provincial travel required)
Salary: $66,824.81 annually
Position Type: Full-time, Unionized (COPE 397), Classified as S1A
Benefits: Excellent benefits package, payment in lieu of pensions, car allowance, and per diems
Reports to: Fundraising Director

The Fundraising Organizer is on the frontlines of building our movement. This role supports local Electoral District Associations (EDAs) across the province by planning and executing successful fundraising initiatives that ensure campaigns are fully funded and ready to win. The Fundraising Organizer is a key position responsible for motivating and organizing local teams to build and maintain their local base of support.

This role blends fundraising and political organizing. You bring energy and clarity to help local teams understand the importance of fundraising and equip them with the tools and confidence to do it well. This position requires a highly motivated individual with a keen attention to detail who can work independently and as part of a team.

Alberta’s New Democrats are a growing, vibrant political party with a membership that holds specific values of social justice, the rights of working people, environmental stewardship and fairness. The organization’s Executive board and staff are professional, dedicated individuals focused on continuing to grow the party.

Key Responsibilities

1. Outreach, training and mobilization

• Lead EDAs in their outreach/fundraising efforts.
• Mentor riding associations and candidates to implement strategic fundraising activities.
• Understand and explain fundraising rules to volunteers to comply with Election Alberta’s financial rules and relevant legislation.

2. Training & capacity building

• Deliver workshops and provide coaching to candidates, MLAs and local teams.
• Develop and train volunteers.
• Help create, develop and implement fundraising materials.
• Educating local teams so that fundraising activities comply with Elections Alberta rules and applicable legislation.

3. Organizing & data tracking

• Train teams on the use of digital tools such as texting platforms and virtual phone banks.
• Track key performance indicators, including contact rates, volunteer shifts, and participation.
• Provide reports as requested.

4. Year-round engagement & development

• Keep local teams active between elections.
• Work with the Fundraising Director to implement new fundraising initiatives.

Qualifications

Required:

• Experience with Raiser's Edge, NationBuilder, Salesforce, or similar CRM systems.
• Exceptional phone skills.
• Experience working with diverse community members and groups.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with confidential data.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
• Ability to work independently with clear direction and within established processes.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle (mileage and car allowance are provided).

Assets:

• Interest in politics or work with a nonprofit or campaign organization.
• Electoral campaign experience is considered an asset.
• Bilingualism or fluency in a second language.

Interview Process

• Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview with 1-2 team members. In-person or virtual format will be confirmed beforehand.
• Successful candidates may be invited to a second interview.
• Final candidates may be asked to complete a short work exercise related to the role.

Working Environment and Expectations

This position will require regular evening and weekend availability, and the availability to travel across the province. Additional support may also be required during election campaigns or Party conventions.

Terms and Conditions

This is a full-time position governed by a Collective Agreement between Alberta’s New Democrats and COPE 397 and is classified as an S1A position. The starting salary is $66,824.81. Alberta’s New Democrats also offer a payment in lieu of pensions and an excellent employer-paid benefit package.
