Lizette Tejada is the NDP MLA for Calgary-Klein and serves as the Shadow Minister for Immigration and Multiculturalism. A lifelong Calgarian, Lizette is also a dedicated community organizer and a proud mother of two teenage daughters.
Raised by hardworking immigrant parents, Lizette witnessed the challenges faced by racialized Albertans in various aspects of life. This early exposure fueled her passion and advocacy for social justice from a young age.
Lizette began her professional journey in Apparel Design. Over the years, she has devoted significant time to volunteer work, including with the Calgary Women’s Centre, assisting new Canadians learning English as a second language, serving as Treasurer for a housing co-op, and co-founding Alberta's NDP Race Equity Caucus. Her commitment to community service and equity eventually led her to manage constituency offices, where she championed public service and equality for all Albertans.
