Samir Kayande has always been focused on building a stronger, more resilient Alberta economy — one that works for everyone, not just those at the top.
Before being elected as the MLA for Calgary-Elbow, Samir spent his career at the intersection of energy and economics, building software tools for institutional energy investors, helping grow a billion-dollar energy research company, and serving on the board of the Pembina Institute.
He brings that real-world expertise to Alberta’s New Democrats, holding the UCP accountable on affordability, fiscal responsibility, and the kitchen-table issues Calgarians deal with every day.
Originally from Fort McMurray, Samir has called Calgary home since 2004. He lives in Calgary-Elbow with his wife, JJ, and their two children.
Samir Kayande is ready. Alberta's New Democrats are ready.
