Shannon Phillips was first elected on May 5th, 2015 as the MLA for Lethbridge-West. She became the Minister of Environment and Parks on May 24, 2015. She also became the Minister Responsible for the Climate Change Office on February 2nd, 2016.
Prior to being elected, Shannon worked with the Alberta Federation of Labour, as a policy analyst for five years. She was also a member of the board of directors, for five years, for the Womanspace Resource Centre, a nonprofit organization that provides referrals, resources and education to the community and to individual women.
Shannon received a Bachelor of Arts with honours in political science in 1999, and in 2002 she completed her Master of Arts, both at the University of Alberta. Shannon resides with her two sons in Lethbridge, Alberta.
