OLDS — Alberta’s New Democrats have nominated longtime educator and community volunteer Bev Toews as their candidate for the by-election in Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills.
Toews is a champion for young people and rural communities. She brings more than 25 years of experience working in education, where she has supported students and families across the region.
In addition to her work in schools, Toews chairs the Fair Trade Olds committee and has been recognized with the Stars of Alberta Volunteer Award and the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for her work in the community.
“Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills deserves a representative who understands the challenges rural families are facing and is ready to fight for real solutions,” said Toews. “From chaos in health care to the rising cost of living, I want to stand up for people in this part of the province and make their voices heard in the Legislature.”
Leader of Alberta’s New Democrats Naheed Nenshi welcomed Toews’ nomination.
“Bev knows this community inside and out,” said Nenshi. “She’s spent her life listening, helping, and building. Whether it’s mentoring the next generation, or advocating for her community, she will always stand up for Alberta values.”
“At a time when Danielle Smith’s UCP government continues to ignore the real struggles rural Albertans are facing, and instead pursues chaos, cuts, and corruption, Bev will be a powerful voice for change in Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills.”
The by-election in Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills will be held June 23, 2025. To find out how to support Bev in the by-election, visit her candidate page.
