RED DEER – Alberta’s New Democrats met in Red Deer on October 4 and 5 for a weekend of strategy and training that brought together members from across the province.
The two-day event began Saturday with the Provincial Council meeting, followed Sunday by Breakthrough, a full day of hands-on training focused on strengthening local organizations ahead of the next provincial election.
Delegates debated and unanimously passed a motion affirming the Alberta NDP’s solidarity with teachers and education professionals.
The motion commits Alberta’s New Democrats to:
“Albertans want strong public education and respect for the people who deliver it,” said a Council delegate. “This vote reflects our shared values and our belief that every child deserves a great education.”
Sunday’s Breakthrough sessions focused on the practical tools that build strong local organizations. Participants received targeted training in:
The day concluded with a fireside chat, Building from Today, reflecting on lessons from the weekend and the road ahead.
The weekend marked the first Provincial Council following the 2025 Convention, providing members an opportunity to reflect, plan, and recommit to organizing across Alberta.
“Every conversation this weekend was about action,” said one participant. “We’re building the skills and confidence needed to win.”
